Biography of Adam B. Kaufman
Adam B. Kaufman represents clients in contract negotiations, commercial and residential real estate matters, private lending and equity transactions, commercial litigation, health care law, trusts and estates, mergers and acquisitions, international trade, employment matters, franchising, licensing and distribution, intellectual property and corporate formation. His corporate clients range in size from small startups to medium-sized companies, and they are located throughout the United States, as well as in Israel, Australia, China and India.
In 1989, Mr. Kaufman graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in political science from SUNY Albany, where he was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. After graduating from the UCLA School of Law in 1994, he began his legal career in the project finance department of Kelley Drye & Warren LLP, where he represented the Export-Import Bank of the United States and various power plant and infrastructure developers in international transactions. Mr. Kaufman then became an associate of Morrison Cohen Singer & Weinstein, LLP, where he worked in the corporate department. While at that firm, Mr. Kaufman represented numerous clients in various capacities, such as Goldman, Sachs & Co. in public offerings, the J.H. Whitney venture capital group in private equity transactions, and Genovese Drug Stores in retail store acquisitions.
In early 1999, Mr. Kaufman formed Kaufman & Satran, LLP with Robert I. Satran, a commercial litigator. In April 2003, Mr. Kaufman formed Adam B. Kaufman & Associates, PLLC, where he is the sole member.
Mr. Kaufman resides in Woodmere, New York with his wife and three children.
Biography of Beth R. Mehlman
Beth R. Mehlman graduated Summa Cum Laude from Yeshiva University in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in philosophy. Ms. Mehlman went on to attend Cardozo School of Law as a David Berg Scholar where she received her JD in 1995.
Prior to becoming of counsel to Adam B. Kaufman & Associates, PLLC in 2006, Ms. Mehlman worked as an associate at Shebitz, Berman, Cohen & Delforte. While at that firm, Ms. Mehlman focused on education law, representing school districts, educational institutions, principals, teachers and students in various matters including 3020-a proceedings. Ms. Mehlman represented clients such as labor unions and synagogues in all stages of litigation practice, from pleadings and pre-trial discovery through appeal.
Presently, Ms. Mehlman's areas of practice include residential and commercial real estate, trusts and estates, employment matters and civil litigation.
Ms. Mehlman is admitted to practice law in the states of New York and New Jersey.
